Sovrinti Case Study
Shower Patterns & Caregiver Support
Caregiver-Assisted Showering Pattern Identification
Bathing is a crucial daily activity that helps maintain independence and provides insight into a person's health and safety. Caregivers often assist with bathing to ensure it happens regularly and without issues. The Sovrinti system helps track bathing patterns to ensure consistent caregiving services.
Background
The Sovrinti system uses advanced technology to monitor and record activities in the homes of older adults. In a pilot program (2022-2023) with a home care provider, the system was installed to understand its benefits and integration into care workflows. The following data is from a 59-year-old woman living alone who receives 20 hours of professional caregiving weekly.
Results:
Shower Times: The data shows when she usually showers (mostly Mondays between 9:15 and 10 am) and how long it takes (about 12 minutes).
Caregiver Help: The data also shows when the caregiver is in the bathroom during her showers.
Key Insights
This system can help caregivers know:
If someone is showering regularly.
If there are any changes in their showering habits that might be a concern.
If the caregiving service is being delivered consistently.
For Further Analysis
Additional data, such as ambient light and sink usage, can provide more insights into bathing habits. Further analysis could explore changes in shower duration, variations in caregiver assistance, and what activities occur when a scheduled shower does not happen.
Figure 1: Shows showering times from 11/12/22 to 4/15/23. Each ring represents one day, with dark blue indicating the start and light blue the end of showering events. The client usually showers on Mondays between 9:15 am and 10 am, with each session lasting about 12 minutes.
