a2 Pilot Awards: AI + Aging Demonstration Project

Sovrinti Receives Award for Groundbreaking Pilot with Johns Hopkins Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratory (AITC) for Aging Research.

Sovrinti has been honored with an award for its pioneering pilot project in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratory (AITC) for Aging Research. This accolade comes as part of the inaugural challenge of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) a2 Pilot Awards.

The a2 Pilot Awards represent a national initiative aimed at funding transformative technology demonstration projects with a clear pathway to commercialization, translational milestones, or technology transfer, particularly at the nexus of AI and healthy aging and/or Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD).

With the aging population in the United States expected to reach 77 million by 2034, surpassing those under 18 for the first time ever, the application of AI technologies holds immense promise in enhancing the health and quality of life for older adults and driving innovation in healthcare.

NIA has allocated $40 million over the next five years to support promising AI technology pilot projects aimed at improving care and health outcomes for older Americans, including those with AD/ADRD. Successful projects may receive multi-year commitments and become more competitive for follow-on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding.

Furthermore, pilot awardees stand to benefit from access to study sites, datasets, and resources at each AITC, along with mentorship from industry and university experts, major healthcare systems, and venture capitalists. This strategic initiative is poised to catalyze generational transformation at the intersection of AI and healthy aging.
